Message from the Pitmaster:
Some
days when I go to work, I hit every red light getting
there and I know that sets the tone for the rest of the
day. In BBQ, it’s the same way. The first contest we
went to this year they wouldn't give me any electricity
and I had to prep my meat under a street light. That
should tell you how that contest went. In the next
competition, we are told that we have to move spots
after we’ve already set up. Then, we win reserve grand
champion and after the awards ceremony the trophy is
taken away from us – the scores were added up wrong. See
how the year is going so far! Well, I could go on for
hours about the bad, but you have to bounce back, and as
team leader I must focus on the positives, and there
were a few. We went to eight more contests before we got
in the winner’s circle for good. We tried to pack up and
leave before they had a chance to take it away from us!
Looking forward to 2010, the team is still talking to
each other, so I guess we are doing something right. I
would like to say thanks to all my teammates, there’s no way I
could do it without you…here’s to all green lights in
2010!
Thanks again,
