WISHLAND BBQ - ORANGE COUNTY'S 1ST PEOPLE'S CHOICE BBQ
COMPETITION
APRIL 18 -19, 2008
Founded in September 2003, Wishland is a non-profit
foundation that provides assistance and cherished
moments to children with a life-threatening condition
and their families. They
have programs for families that live in Southern
California or are visiting Southern California on their
child's wish trip. The Wishland foundation teamed up
with the California BBQ Association (CBBQA) for a
fundraiser on 19 April 2008.
This was the second contest of the year
for All Hogs go to Heaven. Toni, Ron, and Vince had to
work so it would just be Steve, Ted, and Ardith. The
Canyon RV Park at Featherly Park is a beautiful setting
for any event. We arrived in the afternoon on 18 April
and set up the BBQ, tables, and tarps. We were parked
next to Pete and Pam from the Pit Stop, so it was going
to be a fun weekend. We had set up a table for the
people’s choice in conjunction with the contest. We were
kept very busy, between preparing the turn-in meat and
doing the people’s choice. It was fun to visit with all
the people that attended. Toni and Ron came after work
to support the team during the awards ceremony.
At the awards ceremony All Hogs go to
Heaven received 3rd place overall out of 24 teams. We
got 5th in ribs, 5th in pork, and
6th in brisket. Special thanks to the
Wishland foundation for making this event possible.
