CALIFORNIA BARBECUE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES TEAMS OF THE
YEAR
The California Barbecue Association (CBBQA) held its
annual Q-Fest 2007 at Lake Puddingstone in San Dimas, CA
in February. At the Q-Fest, the Team of the Year awards
were presented and the “All Hogs go to Heaven” BBQ team
from Lancaster, California won the CBBQA 2006 Team of
the Year in ribs. This award is a culmination of 2006
achievements at Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS)
competitions. The KCBS, with over 6,000 members
worldwide, is the world’s largest organization of
barbecue and grilling enthusiasts. KCBS sanctions more
than two hundred barbecue contests across the U.S. each
year and offers assistance to civic and charitable
organizations producing these events.
The “All Hogs go to Heaven” team consists of Steve
Madaule “Head Pitmaster”, Vicki “Mama Pitmaster”, Vince
Madaule “Assistant Pitmaster”, Ted Richardson
“Electrician/Handyman“, Ardith Richardson “Runner” all
from Lancaster, Ron Hoch “Assistant Pit Master”, and
Toni Hoch “Garnish Girl” from San Bernardino.
This has truly been an amazing year for the “All Hogs go
to Heaven” BBQ team. They have seen so many new and
different places, helped with charities, and have made
many friends along the way. Little did they know after
joining the CBBQA in 2005 that they would travel to so
many exciting and fun places in California, Oregon,
Nevada, Arizona, and Kansas City, Missouri. They entered
13 different BBQ contests, traveled 9,404 miles, cooked
26 briskets, 270 chicken thighs, 72 racks of ribs, 22
pork butts and racked up enough points to received Team
of the year in Ribs for 2006 from the California BBQ
Association. What a year they have had!
