PALM DESERT BBQ AND CHILI COOK-OFF (IBCA)

APRIL 5, 2008

This contest was to be held in conjunction with Ground Hog Day on 2 February, but was postponed until 5 April 2008. This was the first contest of the year for All Hogs go to Heaven. Because of the date change it looked like Steve would be on his own for this contest, as Ted and Ardith had made other plans and Toni, Ron, and Vince had to work. Everyone felt sorry for Steve on Friday eve because he was by himself, but luckily we have a big family and Don and Kathy Akin came to the rescue helping Steve throughout the event. Of course, Steve told everyone that he picked them up on the street corner. This was a people’s choice as well as a competition, so there was a lot to be done. 

Kathy is really great at greeting people and Don was a big help with some heavy stuff that needed to be done. All Hogs go to Heaven placed 5^th in pork and 4^th in brisket out of 8 teams. Thanks to the organizers who made this event possible.
