2^nd Annual Rock N’ Ribs Competition BBQ

Rock N’ Ribs began a partnership with the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), the Western Barbeque Association and the Utah Barbeque Association to present Utah’s second official BBQ championship Cook-off.  They even received the Governor's Declaration!  Along with bigger cash prizes than last year, this event is officially sanctioned by the KCBS, so their champions win a coveted invitation to the BBQ Big Time – The Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational and the 28th Annual American Royal Barbeque (the biggest BBQ contest in the world)!  This was first and foremost a family event…think picnic blankets, late summer nights, cool grass, and great food. 

The All Hogs go to Heaven team for this event would be just Steve and Vince as other team members had prior commitments.  Steve and Vince left Lancaster the evening of 23 August and drove all night (10 hours) to get to Salt Lake.  Vince can now drive so it’s a big help to his Dad and they can cover more ground in a shorter amount of time.  They set up the BBQ next to Jay and Monica of Otis and the Bird from Arizona.  It was fun to visit with them and to meet new teams.

All Hogs go to Heaven received the Reserve Grand Champion, our first ever!  It was a thrill as there were 25 teams competing from 7 different states.  We received 10^th in chicken, 2^nd in ribs, 8^th in pull pork, 12^th in brisket to finish 2^nd in the overall contest with Reserve Grand Champion.  In the “anything butt” category the dessert finished in 1st place.  It was a great contest and well worth the time and effort.  Our thanks to everyone involved in making this event a success.
