2nd Annual Wild West BBQ Bash
June 25 - 26, 2010
Santa Maria, California
The Family Care Network is
a private, non-profit children and families services
provider. Established in 1987 for the purpose of
creating family-based treatment programs as an
alternative to group home or institutional care for
children and youth, the agency now operates multiple,
accredited programs designed to strengthen and preserve
families and individuals. The agency has grown to serve
over 2,000 foster and high-needs children, youth and
families annually in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara
counties. The 2nd Annual Wild West BBQ Bash helped
raise money for this worthy cause.
Ted and Ardith were unable
to attend this event as Ted had his 50th class reunion
in Ohio on this same weekend. The rest of the team,
consisting of Steve, Ron, and Toni, did exceptionally
well at this event. The weather was a little chilly for
being late in June. They followed each other over to
the park and set up the BBQ site. Other family members
attending were brother Art and his wife Joanne Madaule
from Ventura, Ted and Ardith’s daughter, Annette, and
granddaughters, Taylor and Jordyn, who live in Santa
Maria.
The next days results
showed all of the time, effort, and hard work paid off
with an overall finish of 3rd place out of 23 teams.
Categories included: 1st place in chicken, 6th place in
ribs, 11th place in pull pork, 8th place in brisket, and
9th place in tri tip. This finish put us in 1st place
for the California BBQ Association Team of the Year
(TOY) competition.
We wish to thank Kelly and
Kathleen McIntosh for being outstanding reps at this
event. |
