Que'n For Kids
Orange County BBQ Festival
June 11 - 12, 2010
Costa Mesa, California
The Kristie’s Foundation,
formerly Wishland, has programs that help families with
a critically ill child to meet their special needs.
This is the 3rd year that we have competed in this
contest, and it’s a great feeling knowing that our
support will help a very deserving child and family.
Steve, Ted, and Ardith
arrived at the Orange County Fairgrounds within 30
minutes of each other. Toni and Ron would come later in
the day. Kelleigh Strobel was there to greet us and
show us to our space. She has been an outstanding
organizer of this event and each year it just keeps
getting bigger and better.
The crowd was huge and the
people’s choice was a great success. It was hard to
keep up with the line that continued all afternoon. All
Hogs go to Heaven donated the money that they received
in the “people’s choice” to Kristie’s Foundation.
After the meats were done,
Steve pulled out his crock pot and made brisket chili.
It simmered all afternoon and in the evening several
other BBQ teams enjoyed sharing conversations on the
events of the day over a bowl of spaghetti, brisket
chili, and cheese. The chili received "9’s" all around!
At the awards, All Hogs go
to Heaven did really well finishing 5th overall out of
57 teams, with an 11th in chicken, 8th in ribs, 8th in
pull pork, and 15th in brisket. We wish to thank Gene
Goycochea, Kelly and Kathleen McIntosh, and Kelleigh
Strobel for all of their help in making this contest one
of the biggest of the year.
