MORGAN HILL NO BULL
COOK-OFF
May 7 - 8, 2010
Morgan Hill, California
Under the direction of Ben
Lobenstein and Ric Gilbert the “1st Morgan
Hill No Bull Cook-off” was a great success with over
10,000 people in attendance! The venue was a parking
lot next to a city building and facilities. The
community really came out to support the teams and
events.
Ted and Ardith left on
Thursday and stayed at Casa de Fruita near Hollister.
Steve came early on Friday and we all had breakfast
together. We proceeded to the event around noon and
were met by Ben and Ric. Toni and Ron would fly up on
Friday morning. There were 52 teams for this 1st
time event, lots of new teams and some old favorites.
It’s always fun after dinner when the camp is set up,
meat prepped, and dinner done to walk around and greet
old friends and met new ones. On Saturday, our
webmaster, Julie Smith, came to help the All Hogs team,
she is our good luck charm! She made a dessert to try
out on the team for future anything butt contests. It
was delicious!
We did
excellent overall with a 7th place finish out
of 52 teams. We received 11th in chicken, 16th
in ribs, 3rd in pork, and 26th in
brisket. We wish to thank Ben and Ric for another great
contest. To Kelly and Kathleen McIntosh for the
outstanding job they do in representing the teams. They
always bring professionalism to the judging contest. We
look forward to next year’s cook-off.
