Best Dam Barbecue Contest

Boulder City, Nevada 

The Best Dam Barbecue is an official Nevada state championship challenge, sanctioned by KCBS. There were 34 teams from California, Arizona, and Utah. All Hogs go to Heaven, Cecil’s BBQ, BLQUE Cutting Edge, and Papa’s Smokehouse were the only teams from California. This is our 4th year competing at this great community event that takes place at a local park. Ted and Ardith left on Thursday for Boulder City and would spend the night in a campground near the BBQ area. Don and Kathy left on Wednesday and spent 2 nights in Las Vegas before coming to Boulder City, Toni and Ron would fly to Las Vegas on Thursday and spend the night in Henderson, and Steve left at midnight for Boulder City on Friday morning. Vince had to work so he would not be attending. We miss him! Steve, Ted, and Ardith would then meet at the designated space for All Hogs go to Heaven on the street next to the park on Friday morning. 

The weather for this event was hot this year compared to the rain last year. We entered the dessert category on Friday evening and placed 3rd out of 8 teams. Toni did a great job decorating the dessert tray.

Steve got up early on Saturday morning to start cooking the meat. This event has really grown over the past three years that we have been attending. This year the locals really came out to support this great event. We enjoyed visiting with all the BBQ teams from Arizona, just a great group of people!

We finished 8^th overall out of 34 teams. We received 4^th place in chicken, 18^th in ribs, 2nd in pull pork, 21st in Brisket, and 3^rd place in dessert. It was a great time and we look forward to attending next year.
